FORMER UKIP leader Nigel Farage has claimed there is a “public appetite” for Ireland to leave the European Union as he visits Dublin to promote ‘Irexit’. Farage spoke at a Trinity College event this evening and is among a number of guests set to speak at the ‘Irexit: Freedom to Prosper’ conference in the RDS tomorrow. The 53-year-old will be joined by Sunday Times columnist Cormac Lucey, journalist John Waters and Galway councillor James Charity in advocating for an Irish withdrawal from the bloc.

Salvini Threatens To Sue Fake Rescue NGOs For Not Going To Nearest Safe Port!

Italy's interior minister Matteo Salvini said on Sunday he was gathering legal evidence against the crew of a Dutch-flagged rescue ship as calls grew for 47 migrants to be allowed to land. "We have concrete elements to declare that the captain and crew of the Sea Watch 3 have put the lives of those on board at risk by disobeying precise directions days ago to disembark them in the nearest port, not Italy!" he said. "The evidence will be handed to the judicial authorities," he said, accusing captain and crew of "a crime and a clear desire to use these immigrants in a political battle". The Schengen agreement and the current migrant-sharing mechanism are deeply flawed and need urgent fixing, French President Emmanuel Macron has said. Europe must "have borders" even if it means a smaller Schengen zone, he said. In the first major press conference since the Yellow Vest movement took off in November, Macron unveiled a range of policy measures to placate the protesters, including a proposed overhaul of the European-wide migration policy and the Schengen agreement.
