The Yellow Flag programme for schools is an EU cultural initiative for schools funded by the EU Commissions - Asylum , Migration and Integration fund encouraging schools to abandon the promotion of the dominant culture in Ireland in favour of an intercultural identity on the basis that it is a form of racism to want to promote your own culture. 

"Racism is a system of disadvantage and advantage based on the cultural/ethnic group to which you belong. The dominant cultural group have access to benefits that other cultural groups may not enjoy .  

White settled people with a history of living in Ireland are classified as the dominant cultural group. The fact that this is the dominant group, means that this group holds greater power in setting cultural norms in the country.

Students can experience indirect racism by taking part in classes that give expression to only one cultural vie
