Fianna Fáil had been expected to oppose legislation but just two TDs sought vote - Legislation which provides for factual objective sex education without regard to a school’s ethos has unexpectedly passed second stage in the Dáil without a vote. When Leas Cheann Comhairle Pat ‘The Cope’ Gallagher asked those in favour of a vote to stand just two TDs - Independents Michael Harty and Mattie McGrath - rose. Fianna Fáil had indicated its opposition to the Provision of Objective Sex Education Bill over concerns about its effect on schools’ ethos and about curriculum issues being set in legislation. But the party did not support a vote against the legislation. A minimum of 10 TDs must want a vote for one to take place. The Bill was introduced by Solidarity TD Paul Murphy, who claimed sex education in Ireland was “in the dark ages” and affected by a school’s religious ethos. Over five months ago, David Stanton, TD, Minister of State in the Department of Justice and Equality, responsible for Equality, Immigration and Integration, requested alternatives for accommodating refugees and migrants in an interview on Clare FM. This was during the outcry when the charming Irish village of Lisdoonvarna was faced with having 100 "refugees", equal to a third of their population, forcibly inserted into their midsts, despite having consistently said no to this proposal and voting unanimous vote for no. A 17-year-old girl was seriously injured in Minden, Germany after a drunk Afghan refugee dragged her off a bus by her hair, causing her to be run over while trying to escape the man. According to a police statement, the girl was repeatedly harassed by the 22-year-old Afghan refugee while she waited at a bus terminal in Minden, near Hanover, with her 14-year-old friend just before 9pm local time on Saturday. The girl and her friend sought safety from the man, and his 21-year-old friend, by running to a nearby vehicle, where the driver let them on. However, the persistent pair also got onboard and the 22-year-old dragged the girl from the bus by her hair – after it had started to move. The girl slipped and fell beneath the bus, which ran over her legs, leaving her with “severe injuries,” police said. As bystanders rushed to help the teen, the driver chased the men hoping to get a picture of them. He was reportedly slapped in the face by the 21-year-old. Police
