Police have deployed water cannon during a rally against the controversial UN migration pact in Brussels. Officers were seen scuffling with protesters, who threw firecrackers before facing off with law-enforcement. The rally was dubbed the ‘March against Marrakech’ in reference to the city where the pact was signed earlier in December. It was organized by the right-wing Vlaams Belang party which has long been a vocal opponent of the agreement. While having initially kicked off peacefully, the demonstration started to heat up with some of the participants burning firecrackers and hurling bottles as they marched down the street. Part of the crowd who rallied on Sunday, also vented their anger by rooting out and throwing around traffic signs and what appeared to be parts of some fences. MEP Clare Daly seems to have accepted BRexit and used a BRexit debate to rather target neoliberalism, the European Union and UK Establishment. Clare Daly (Ind) said that BRexit was not about the "Crazy Brits" but about the failure of neoliberal politics in the EU and highlighted the Lisbon and Nice agreements. She also blamed soaring rents, declining wages, privatisation and undermining of public services.

Showing its desperation to suck up to the EU, the Irish Government was the only European government to break ranks and offer to take some of the "refugees" in the standoff between Italy and the EU. Italy was attempting to force EU to reform its genocidal, inept and grossly corrupt policy on mass immigration. Italy's Foreign Minister and Deputy PM, Matteo Salvini, has been holding the standoff since Monday, demanding the EU step up to the plate. Apart from pointless rhetoric, calling Italy "unhelpful", the EU unhelpfully did nothing... During the week long standoff Salvini had said “The next ship can turn around and go back where it came from because our limit has been reached!”  Rome had even threatened to pull funding for the EU unless it agreed to take in some of those on board the Diciotti. In an interview from prison in Germany, exiled Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont has said: "I’m not a criminal".  The Catalan president in exile, Carles Puigdemont said he is “not a criminal” in the first interview since his arrest. The exiled leader reaffirmed the region’s campaign for independence, saying it’s based on democracy and non-violence.

Gemma O'Doherty who has been shaking up the system in recent months has finally had enough of the sorry state that Ireland is in, and has decided to launch herself in politics.
