Three suspects arrested for farm murders

The police in the Eastern Free State arrested three suspects on Sunday, April 23, in connection with the murders of Pieter van der Berg (49) and his domestic, Tsietso Matsabisa (55).

In another merciless farm attack, a farmer of the Wepener district in the Free State and his domestic worker were shot dead on Thursday, April 20.

Mr. Pieter Van Der Berg (49), and a domestic worker (55) were shot and killed after suspects gained entry into the residence. The suspects ransacked the house, and the safe was broken into. Fours suspects were responsible for the shooting and killing of Pieter and Tsietso, fleeing the scene with two firearms.

A neighbor who went to the home of the deceased notified the police who responded to the incident around 14H20.

Following up on leads, and an extensive search by the police for the suspects resulted in the arrest of three in the early hours of Sunday, at the Qibing Township outside Wepener. The fourth suspect who is still on the run is wanted in connection with the murders and the police expect to make an arrest shortly.
