Nearly 23,000 work permits were issued to foreigners in January, marking an almost 50 percent hike year on year, the Polish labour ministry said on Wednesday. This, however, does not seem to be enough to quench Polish Big Business and Multinationals’ thirst for cheap imported manpower.
“The employment breakdown by sector has dramatically changed – a few years ago it was still agriculture, whereas now it’s construction, processing, transport, trade, catering and domestic help sectors that attract the most foreign workers,” said Deputy Labour Minister Stanisław Szwed.
