I caught the last leg of the “climate strike” on its way to City Hall as I was heading into Arthur’s Quay Shopping Centre….a few hundred gullible teenagers and a mix of far-left and neo-liberal activists chanting their heads off, doing their bit to increase the city’s carbon footprint for the day.

The Limerick Leader reported that “OVER A THOUSAND protesters took to the streets of Limerick city this Friday afternoon in support of the global climate strike happening across the world today. ”

From what I saw it was closer to 500 and I sincerely doubt that children in China were out in force, which is ironic when you consider that the very type of government that some of these people advocate would have prevented them from protesting at all.

Ireland’s carbon footprint is insignificant when compared to likes of China and nothing we might do would have any impact on whatsoever. We should do nothing that would impact our national economy or lower our standard of living.

Climate change is real, but it is not an emergency as presented by the mainstream media and thanks to their relentless scaremongering “climate anxiety” and “climate depression” are now also a thing.

The sky might nor be falling, but that is not to say that we should do nothing at all. We can all do our bit as individuals to protect and improve the environment with the three R’s – reduce, reuse and recycle. We don’t need a carbon tax imposed on us.
